Academic societies and workshops

  • 2023.12.1-2
    The Forum for Graduate School Educational Reform 2023 was held at the University of Tsukuba under the theme of “Normalization of Internationality and Interdisciplinarity.” Five graduate students from the Chiba University WISE Program participated and gave poster presentations. Ms. Miwa Sasamoto of М1 Chiba University received the Excellent Presentation Award in the Normalization of Internationality session.

    The 2023 WISE Program Joint Colloquium was hosted by Kumamoto University in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, as a three-day, two-night training camp. Participants gave nine poster presentations and 11 oral research presentations and actively discussed the themes.

    Nine graduate students from Chiba University participated in the Digital Humanities Summer School held at the University of Oxford in the UK, with all receiving certificates of completion. They participated in the courses entitled Introduction to Digital Humanities, When Archives Become Digital, Humanities Data, Applied Data Analysis, From Text to Tech, and Digital Cultural Heritage. Each of them delved deeply into their research interests and challenges. About 250 participants gathered from all over the world and developed specific research and career strategies while interacting with each other.
    Nine graduate students from Chiba University participated in the Digital Humanities Summer School held at the University of Oxford in the UK, with all receiving certificates of completion.

    On May 20, 2023, three students from Chiba University and one from Okayama University gave poster presentations at the 132nd IPSJ SIG C-H Presentation.

    The 3rd WISE Academic Forum of the Japan-China Young Researchers was held both online and in person. One student in the WISE Program from Chiba University and two from Okayama University gave research presentations. Mr. Jiang Jing, Dean of the School of Oriental Languages and Philosophy at Zhejiang Gongshang University, also gave an on-demand keynote speech.

    A special session, “Dialogue between Young Graduate Students and Jinmonkon,” was held at the IPSJ SIG-CH Symposium 2022 (Jinmonkon 2022).

    At the 128th Research Meeting for the IPSJ SIG Computers and the Humanities, Assistant Professor Naoki Kokaze and Specially Appointed Researcher Soichi Nagano from Chiba University reported the deployment of the WISE Program to undergraduate education at Chiba University in a presentation titled “Curriculum for Digital Humanities education for the Faculty of Humanities.”
